Turkmen wine-growers started harvest processing of «sunny berry»

Harvest, purchased from agricultural producers, entered the receiving and procuring bases of wine-producer enterprises of the State Association of Food Industry of Turkmenistan, where annually about 50,000 tons of "sunny berries" are processed. Wine-producer enterprises are located in Ashgabat, Geoktepe, Anau, Iolotani, as well as in regions - Takhtabazar of Mary province and Karabekaulsky of Lebap region. Millions deciliters of wine material are extracted from domestic raw materials and performed laying of cognac spirits for long aged. 

The country produces wines and cognacs of almost two hundred titles. Berries of different technical varieties were traditionally studied for maturity, chemical composition and sugar content before the beginning of the mass harvesting of grapes in the certified laboratories of the state association. 

Soil and climatic conditions of the Turkmen land contribute to the development of viticulture and production besides wines and cognacs, juices, jam, valuable healing properties of grape seed oil. The area for growing this crop increases every year and agrarians together with scientists work to obtain new varieties. 

Today more than a hundred highly productive varieties are cultivated in the country, which 70% are wine, 7% are raisins and 23% are table variety. Turkmen wines yearly honored with an award of prestigious international competitions thanks to the high quality of grapes and the skill of the workers of the industry.
