Current areas of cooperation between Turkmenistan and UNESCO were discussed

On October 12, 2024, a meeting was held at the MFA of Turkmenistan between Minister of Foreign Affairs Rashid Meredov and the President of the UNESCO General Conference, Ms. Simona-Mirela Miculescu.

During the meeting, the parties noted the high level of cooperation between Turkmenistan and UNESCO.

The importance of cultural and humanitarian events taking place in Turkmenistan was noted, in particular the high-level holding of the International Forum «The Interconnection of Times and Civilizations – the Basis of Peace and Development» in Ashgabat the day before.

In this regard, the importance of including the national nomination «the art of Akhal-Teke horse breeding and traditions of horse decoration» in the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity was also emphasized. The ceremony of presenting the corresponding certificate took place in the city of Arkadag.

The parties also considered the possibility of expanding cooperation in the field of archiving, digitalization, science and education.
