Top-level Turkmen-Kuwaiti talks in Al Kuwait
President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov arrived in Kuwait. Deputy Minister of Emir's Court Affairs in Kuwait Sheikh Ali Al-Jarrah Al-Sabah, Adviser to the Emir of Kuwait Khaled Yousef Abdulaziz Al Fulaij, and other officials of the State of Kuwait, as well as the members of the Turkmen government delegation greeted the distinguished guest at the International Airport, decorated with the national flags of Turkmenistan and Kuwait.
From the airport, the cortege of the President of Turkmenistan headed to his residency in the Al Jahran Building in the Palace of the Emir of the State of Kuwait. Later, the President of Turkmenistan headed to the Congress Centre.
The official ceremony of greeting the President of Turkmenistan took place on the square in front of the Congress Centre.
The members of the official delegation of Kuwait were introduced to President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, and the members of the official delegation of Turkmenistan were presented to Emir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.
Then the meeting of the delegations of the two countries in the expanded format was held in the Big Hall of the Congress Center.
President of Turkmenistan and Emir of Kuwait discuss the new stage of the interstate cooperation
During the meeting in Al Kuwait, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Emir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah noted that the Turkmen-Kuwaiti top-level talks opened up the new stage of the bilateral partnership and cooperation in the framework of the UN and other international agencies.
One of the important aspects discussed during the talks was the trade and economic sphere, where the countries had wide opportunities for building up relations in the framework of the national goals as well as in the context of the regional and global economy.
The fuel and energy sector, petrochemistry and oil processing, processing industry and investment cooperation were specified among the key areas. The parties discussed the proposal on the establishment of the Turkmen-Kuwaiti working group on the energy industry.
The leaders of the countries focused on the opportunities for the development of the transport and communication systems as another area of cooperation, given the favourable location of the both countries in their regions.
The opportunities for the establishment of joint enterprises based on the mutual investments and partnership in such new for Turkmenistan areas as metallurgical engineering among others were considered during the talks.
Fuel and energy complex, trade, investments, transport and communications, chemical industry, textile industry and agriculture, health care and high technologies were specified among the areas of long-term cooperation between the states.
It was proposed to hold a bilateral business forum and an exhibition on trade and investment. It was also underlined the importance of the creation of the intergovernmental commission that will provide the platform for the consideration of the important issues of cooperation, exchange of views and development of practical measures to build up the trade, economic and cultural ties between the two countries.
As for the humanitarian relations, the parties agreed to establish cooperation in such spheres as science and education, arts and creative activities.
Turkmenistan and the State of Kuwait established the diplomatic relations in 1995. At present, the dialogue between the two countries is characterized by the high level of mutual understanding and trust.
Turkmenistan and Kuwait sign bilateral agreements
On the outcomes of the talks between President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Emir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, a package of ten bilateral documents was signed.
In particular, the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan and the State of Kuwait adopted the Memorandum of Mutual Understanding on bilateral political consultations; the Memorandum of Mutual Understanding on cooperation between the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan and the Saud Al-Nasser Al-Sabah Kuwaiti Diplomatic Institute was signed.
The Governments of the two countries signed the Agreements on the economic and technical cooperation, on trade cooperation, on the establishment of the joint Turkmen-Kuwaiti commission for cooperation; the Agreement on the abolition of visa requirements for the holders of diplomatic and service / special passports; the Agreement on cooperation in the sphere of culture and arts.
The parties also adopted the joint document on the technical support between the Government of Turkmenistan and the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development.
Moreover, the Memorandum of Mutual Understanding was signed between the Turkmengaz State Concern and the Kuwait Petroleum Corporation; the Memorandum of Mutual Understanding on Cooperation between the Government of Turkmenistan and the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development.
