OPENING OF THE EXHIBITION “MARGIANA – THE KINGDOM OF THE BRONZE AGE ON THE TERRITORY OF TURKMENISTAN” IN MANNHEIM

On the 9th of March 2019, the opening ceremony of archeological exhibition “Margiana – the kingdom of the Bronze Age on the territory of Turkmenistan” was held in the Reiss-Engelhorn Museum complex of Mannheim.

Around 400 people participated to the opening ceremony, among which there are deputies of Bundestag, representatives of political circles of Mannheim, heads of German-Turkmen Forum, heads of German museums, representatives of scientific circles, social organizations and companies, as well as the representatives of Turkmen diaspora.

The delegation of Turkmenistan headed by the Director of Historical-Local Lore Museum of Mary region was in Mannheim during the period of March 8-10, 2019 to attend this event. 

The member of Bundestag from the party of Christian Democratic Union of Germany N.Löbel, Director of Historical-Local Lore Museum of Mary region T.Nobatov, Chief of Collections at the Mannheim Museum G.Pieke, as well as the General Director of Reiss-Engelhorn Museum complex of Mannheim A.Wieczorek gave welcoming speeches during the official opening ceremony of the exhibition that was held in the conference hall of the Museum.

It was noted in the speeches that following Berlin and Hamburg, this exhibition will be now displayed in Mannheim during the period of March-June 2019 and will make great contribution to the development and strengthening of cultural relations between Turkmenistan and Germany and will acquaint the German society with rich history and unique culture of Turkmen people.    

Succeeding this, a platform discussion in participation of directors of a number of museums of Germany was organized where the moderator was the Director of the Mannheim Museum S.Weichert.

After the speeches, a concert program prepared by the masters of art of Turkmenistan was offered to the guests and attracted general interest of the participants of the event.    

Upon completion of this cultural event, the Embassy jointly with Reiss-Engelhorn Museum complex of Mannheim organized a festive reception where the guests gained an opportunity to taste the dishes of national Turkmen cuisine.
