HEADS OF A NUMBER OF MINISTRIES AND DEPARTMENTS OF TURKMENISTAN AND THE REPUBLIC OF KOREA DISCUSSED PROSPECTS FOR INTERACTION

On April 16, 2019, a meeting of government members, heads of a number of sectoral ministries and departments, scientific and educational centers of Turkmenistan and the Republic of Korea was held in the conference hall of the Oguzkent hotel, timed to coincide with the state visit to our country by President Moon Jae-In.

Opening the meeting, the participants noted with satisfaction the high level of bilateral partnership and the positive dynamics of development of relations of both countries in the trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres that have been preserved in recent years. As emphasized, the current talks at the top will undoubtedly give a new impetus to intergovernmental cooperation in a wide range of areas.

Noting the favorable investment climate created in Turkmenistan for the work of foreign partners, the representatives of the Korean delegation expressed the desire of the business circles of the Republic of Korea to expand their presence in the rapidly developing Turkmen market.

 A separate topic of discussions was the issues of increasing cooperation in the fuel and energy sector. In this regard, the importance of the implementation of projects in this area was noted, in particular, in the processing of oil and gas, the production of gas chemical products, and the training of personnel for the petrochemical complex.

 The parties also discussed a number of concrete steps to diversify the business partnership, which has solid potential, focusing on scientific, technical and technological exchange.

Stressing the importance of cooperation in the humanitarian field, the participants spoke in favor of further expanding educational and scientific contacts, cooperation in the health sector, and cultural dialogue between the two states.

At the end of the meeting, members of the delegation of a friendly country expressed their gratitude to President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and the Government of Turkmenistan for their hospitality and expressed confidence that the agreements reached in the near future will receive practical content and will further enhance the mutually beneficial, traditionally friendly dialogue between Turkmenistan and the Republic of Korea.
