IOM SEMINAR IN THE AREA OF PREVENTING HUMAN TRAFFICKING IS BEING HELD IN ASHGABAT

On the 5th of August 2019, a seminar has started in the capital of Turkmenistan for the teachers of the secondary schools, higher institutions and the Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan on human trafficking issues organized by the International Organization for Migration (IOM). 

The representatives of the Parliament (Mejlis), Ombudsperson, Academy of Sciences, Ministry of Justice, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Population of Turkmenistan, Youth Organization named after Makhtumkuli, Union of Women, National Society of Red Crescent, Institute of State, Law and Democracy of Turkmenistan, as well as the faculty members of the higher specialized education institutions and high schools are taking part in the seminar.    

During the first day of the seminar, the international experts in the field of human trafficking and gender policy shared their knowledge and practice in the given field.  

In the framework of the seminar, a handbook for the teachers and students of educational institutions specializing on the prevention and elimination of human trafficking among the youth developed by the IOM within the project “Strengthening the combatting measures against human trafficking and protection of vulnerable migrants in Central Asia in response to regional and global challenges” was presented.

The overall goal of the seminar consists of raising awareness and qualifications of the representatives of the educational institutions in the sphere of preventing and combatting human trafficking.

The seminar will continue its work tomorrow, the 6th of August.
