PARTICIPATION OF THE DELEGATION OF TURKMENISTAN TO THE 74TH SESSION OF THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE UNITED NATIONS

On 28 September 2019, the delegation of Turkmenistan headed by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan R.Meredov arrived to New-York on a working visit to take part in the 74th session of the General Assembly of the United Nations.

In his speech, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan indicated the priority standpoints of our country on current issues of regional and global agenda.

It was particularly noted that Turkmenistan considers the international law and the UN Charter as the basis of present world order and the condition necessary for the attainment of high level of trust between the states.  In this regard, Turkmenistan proposed an initiative of adopting a resolution on declaring the year 2021 as the International Year of Peace and Trust.  This idea was initially voiced during the address of the President of Turkmenistan at the 73rd session of the General Assembly of the United Nations.  The corresponding resolution co-sponsored by the 73 UN member-states was unanimously adopted on the 12th of September of current year.

Also, it was underlined that the cooperation with the United Nations on the issues of stable development continues to be the priority sphere of action for all of its members for the long-term perspective.

The visit of the delegation of Turkmenistan to New-York continues.  A number of bilateral meetings are planned to take place during the visit.
