A SCIENTIFIC CONFERENCE DEVOTED TO THE 24TH ANNIVERSARY OF PERMANENT NEUTRALITY WAS HELD AT THE INSTITUTE OF INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS OF THE MFA OF TURKMENISTAN

On December 11, 2019, the Institute of International relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan hosted a scientific conference devoted to the 24th anniversary of Permanent Neutrality of Turkmenistan under the title "Permanent Neutrality of Turkmenistan: cooperation for the sake of peace, security and sustainable development”.

The conference was accompanied by an exhibition, dedicated to the International day of Neutrality.

The conference was attended by the deputies of the Mejlis, heads of ministries and departments, diplomats of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, heads and representatives of the embassies and international organizations working in Turkmenistan, heads of diplomatic missions of Turkmenistan abroad, teachers and students of higher educational institutions, students from Afghanistan, studying in Turkmenistan, representatives of public organizations and mass media.

Rector of the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan addressed the conference participants with a welcoming speech. Then Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan R. Meredov read the congratulatory message of President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov addressed to the conference participants.

Then speeches of conference participants were made during which it was noted about the regional and world role of the neutral status of Turkmenistan recognized by the international community. In her speech, emphasizing the dynamic and relevant character of the Neutrality of Turkmenistan, telling about its permanent form and positive, constructive model, Permanent Representative of Turkmenistan to the United Nations A. Ataeva quoted the words of the President of Turkmenistan: “Our neutral state, pursuing a peaceful foreign policy based on mutual trust, equal relations, fruitful cooperation, will continue to comprehensively develop friendship and mutually agreed relations with all countries and the nations of the world!”

During the conference, presentations were also made by Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General for Central Asia, Head of the UN Regional Centre for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia N.Gherman, UN Resident Coordinator in Turkmenistan E.Panova, Head of OSCE center in Ashgabat N.Drozd, and the ambassadors of Italy, of the Republic of Uzbekistan to Turkmenistan, the ambassadors of Turkmenistan to Italy and the USA.

Then participants adopted an Address to the President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov. In the Address, the participants of the conference expressed sincere gratitude to the President of Turkmenistan for his tireless work in ensuring peace in the interests of all mankind through the development, stability and implementation of the principles of humanism, as well as the wishes of new outstanding successes in his multifaceted activities aimed at the well-being and prosperity of Turkmenistan.

At the end of the conference, a festive concert and an exhibition of national and foreign cuisine took place.
