PRESIDENT OF TURKMENISTAN ATTENDED INFORMAL SUMMIT OF CIS LEADERS

On December 20, 2019, President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov left on a working visit to the Russian Federation to participate in an informal meeting of the heads of states of the CIS countries. At the Ashgabat International Airport, the head of state was escorted by officials.

A few hours later, the presidential airliner landed at Pulkovo International Airport in St. Petersburg, where the President of Turkmenistan was met by officials and members of the Turkmen delegation.

The motorcade of the President of Turkmenistan proceeded from the airport to the venue for an informal meeting of the heads of states of the CIS countries.

Here, the Turkmen leader was warmly and cordially welcomed by Russian President Vladimir Putin.

After mutual greetings, an informal summit of CIS leaders was held in a narrow format.

Opening the meeting, President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin noted that the heads of states made decisions on joint work in preparation for the celebration of the 75th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War.

The 75th anniversary of the Great Victory is of great importance for all the peoples of the Commonwealth. In our states, much is being done to preserve and strengthen the historical memory of soldiers and officers, as well as those who, through their military labor in the rear, made an invaluable contribution to the victory over fascism.

The informal meeting at a high level can be considered, first of all, as yet another evidence of mutual desire and determination to raise the traditional partnership to a new level, to give it a constructive character, taking into account the accumulated positive experience of cooperation, huge economic and resource potential.

At the end of the working visit to the Russian Federation, the President of Turkmenistan headed to Pulkovo International Airport, from where he flew to Ashgabat.
