Government Delegation to Attend 72nd Session of UN General Assembly
Turkmenistan prepares to take part in the 72nd session of UN General Assembly. This has been reported at the Government session by the Vice-Premier, head of the MFA of Turkmenistan, R.Meredov.
The head of the MFA has noted that one of focal areas of the country’s foreign policy strategy is expanding the cooperation with international organizations including the UN.
According to the Vice-Premier, at the upcoming session, Turkmenistan will take a stand for global peace, security and stability; will develop international cooperation in fighting terrorism, ensuring cybersecurity, preventive diplomacy, reaching Sustainable Development Goals; will expand partnership in such areas as economy, energy, transport, sport, environment etc.
Noting the strategic nature of the Turkmenistan – UN cooperation, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov has stressed that the UN Regional Center for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia, functioning in Ashgabat, is a vivid example of this fruitful partnership.
“Our country pursues the “open doors” policy and will continue to cooperate fully to enhance international collaboration to consolidate universal peace and security; to develop fruitful cooperation in regional and global dimensions”, said the President and approved the list of the Turkmenistan delegation at the 72nd session of the UN General Assembly.
It has also been noted that Turkmenistan views the upcoming forum of the Community of Nations as a significant stage in consolidating efforts for resolution of key issues of our time; for asserting the UN’s leading role in maintaining and strengthening global peace, stability and security, and successful implementation of the tasks outlined in the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
