The International Conference "Permanent Neutrality of Turkmenistan" was held at the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Malaysia

The Embassy of Turkmenistan in Malaysia held an International Conference on the topic "Permanent Neutrality of Turkmenistan", dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the Neutrality of Turkmenistan, as well as the announced the 2020 year - "Turkmenistan - Homeland of Neutrality" in Turkmenistan.

Opening the International Conference the Ambassador of Turkmenistan to Malaysia noted in his opening remarks that this year Turkmenistan marks a significant date in its modern history - the 25th anniversary of the moment when the international community, represented by the UN, was assigned the status of permanent neutrality to Turkmenistan. For a quarter of a century, Neutrality has been for Turkmenistan one of the foundations of its statehood, its domestic and foreign policy. The principles of neutrality, its values ​​and worldview have proven their full compliance with the national interests of Turkmenistan and the goals and objectives of the United Nations Organization. In February 2017, the UN General Assembly unanimously, with the co-authorship of a significant number of member states, proclaimed December 12 as International Day of Neutrality.

The esteemed President of Turkmenistan has clearly noted that “Our country meets neutrality anniversary in the conditions of peace and creation, neighbourliness, respect and mutual understanding with all friends and partners in the world community. We clearly see the prospects, we surely form development plans for the state and society.”

The conference was attended by officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Malaysia, Ambassadors accredited to Malaysia, diplomats, the Head of Administration of the Institute of Strategic and International Studies of Malaysia and local business people. The Ambassadors of the Afghanistan, Egypt, Kazakhstan, Russian Federation and Uzbekistan, who spoke at the International Conference "Permanent Neutrality of Turkmenistan", cordially congratulated the Turkmen people and the President of Turkmenistan on this significant Day of the Turkmen nation. They noted the unique opportunities and positive role of the Permanent Neutral Status of Turkmenistan in ensuring peace and stability in the region. The Ambassadors emphasized the high level of interstate dialogue, built on the principles of mutual respect and partnership.
