Regular meeting of Joint Turkmen-Tajik Intergovernmental Commission on Trade-Economic and Scientific-Technical Cooperation was held in Ashgabat

On October 16, 2024, Ashgabat hosted the regular, 13th meeting of the Joint Turkmen-Tajik Intergovernmental Commission on Trade-Economic and Scientific-Technical Cooperation.

A delegation of the Republic of Tajikistan headed by Deputy Prime Minister of the country S. Ziyozoda arrived in Ashgabat to participate in it. The Turkmen delegation was headed by Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers T. Atakhalliyev

During the meeting, the parties discussed the implementation of the agreements reached at the 12th meeting of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission, held in Dushanbe in 2023. At the same time, the parties exchanged views on the current state and prospects of bilateral relations and emphasized the need for strict implementation of all agreements reached.

The agenda of the Joint Commission meeting included priority issues of cooperation in the trade and economic sphere. Promising areas of bilateral partnership include the energy sector, transport and logistics, agriculture, and the industrial complex.

At the same time, the meeting participants spoke in favor of developing new forms of promoting economic cooperation on a long-term basis. In light of modern realities, strengthening cooperation in the scientific and technical sphere, in the field of introducing advanced technologies and innovations, is also becoming especially relevant.

Special attention was paid to the development of humanitarian contacts, including in the field of education and science. Turkmenistan and Tajikistan also fruitfully interact in the cultural sphere. This is clearly demonstrated by the holding of cross Culture Days and other creative events.

Along with this, it was noted that there are good opportunities for expanding bilateral cooperation in the field of healthcare, as well as in the field of sports.

Having confirmed the parties' focus on increasing mutually beneficial cooperation and their mutual commitment to the practical implementation of the agreements reached, the meeting participants expressed confidence that Turkmen-Tajik relations, which have been given a strategic character, will continue to develop successfully, filling with new concrete content.

Following the meeting, a corresponding Protocol was signed.
