At the initiative of the Turkmen side, a meeting was held at the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Malaysia between Ambassador M. Mashalov and Sakri Abdullah, Executive Director of the Institute of Translation and Books Malaysia (ITBM).

The meeting was attended by the Head of the Publications Department of the Institute of Translation and Books of Malaysia, Khairul Nizam Mohamad Yunis, a specialist of this department, Yurina Piey, the Head of the Copyright Department, Nur Hanani Laidin, and the Second Secretary of the Embassy, I. Sahedov.

Ambassador M. Mashalov reported that an agreement had been reached to translate the book “Makhdukmuli” into Malay, published on the 300th anniversary of the birth of Makhdumkuli Fragi, and that the relevant permission had been obtained from the Government of Turkmenistan.

In this regard, the Malaysian side assured that it would begin translation and publishing work in the near future and reported that all relevant work would be completed within 2-3 months.

For its part, the Turkmen side noted that, given the planned official visit of Malaysian Prime Minister Dato' Sri Anwar Ibrahim to Turkmenistan in early 2025, it would be appropriate to publish the translated book “Makhtumkuli” ahead of this visit.

Sakri Abdullah, Executive Director of the Institute of Translation and Books Malaysia (ITBM), requested that the Malaysian side be provided with an electronic version of the book, as well as high-quality files of the illustrations and texts contained therein, to ensure accurate and prompt translation and publishing work.

At the end of the meeting, the parties expressed their gratitude to each other and their confidence in fruitful cooperation on this issue. The meeting took place in an open and friendly atmosphere.
