TURKMEN-MALAYSIAN POLITICAL CONSULTATIONS HELD IN KUALA LUMPUR

On April 19, 2016, the Turkmen delegation led by Mr. Vepa Hajyyev, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs held political consultations in Malaysia. The delegation of the Malaysian side was headed by Datuk Othman Hashim, Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Malaysia.

During the talks, special attention was paid to the preparation of the forthcoming official visit of the President of Turkmenistan to Malaysia in the second half of this year. The two sides also stressed the need for further development of cooperation between the foreign ministries of Turkmenistan and Malaysia, and noted the importance of the further continuation of the positive contacts in the issues of interaction within international organizations.

During the consultations, the sides discussed a wide range of issues concerning the development of cooperation in political, trade-economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres, as well as in energy, transportation, education, tourism and sports.

The sides expressed satisfaction with the outcome of political consultations and expressed the need for further intensification of the talks between the foreign ministries of the two countries.

During his visit to Malaysia, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan has paid a courtesy visit to H.E. Dato Sri Anifah Aman, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Malaysia.

 In the second half of a day, in the conference hall of the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Kuala Lumpur the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan met with the Turkmen students, studying in Malaysia.
