Meeting with the Mayor of Kuala Lumpur

On May 13, at the initiative of the Turkmen side, a meeting was held between the Ambassador of Turkmenistan to Malaysia Muhametniyaz Mashalov and the Mayor of Kuala Lumpur Dato Seri (Dr.) Maimunah binti Mohd Sharif.

During the talks the parties discussed the prospects for expanding bilateral cooperation in various areas, including the fuel and energy complex, science, education and transport. The Turkmen delegation presented a detailed presentation on the concept of a "smart" city being implemented in the city of Arkadag, where environmentally friendly materials are used and modern technologies are introduced, such as "smart home" systems and intelligent transport solutions.

Following the meeting, the Ambassador of Turkmenistan invited the delegation led by the Mayor of Kuala Lumpur to visit Turkmenistan at a time convenient for them. The Turkmen side also proposed developing a Memorandum of Understanding to strengthen cooperation between the governments of the two countries.

The Malaysian side highly appreciated the quality of the infrastructure of the city of Arkadag, compliance with international standards and the environmental focus of the project. Representatives of Malaysia expressed interest in developing cooperation in the field of urban development and exchanging experience between the countries.

The parties noted the high level of friendly and fraternal relations between Turkmenistan and Malaysia and expressed their readiness to further strengthen them on a mutually beneficial and long-term basis.
