The Embassy of Turkmenistan in Malaysia took part in the International cultural event of the Petaling Jaya City Council

In conjunction with the 10th anniversary of Petaling Jaya officially recognized as the city, the Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ) in collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism and Culture organized the Petaling Jaya Fair 2016 - The Colors of PJ.

The festival was held for 2 days, from the 27th of August until the 28th of August 2016, at the town center of Petaling Jaya and was comprised of various activities by the local cultural groups, such as the fashion show, food trucks, arts and dance performances, live concerts. Furthermore, the festival also included Petaling Jaya Cycling Half Marathon and “Happy PJ Selfie”- the biggest selfie aiming at breaking the Malaysian book of records.

Besides local institutions, The Embassies of Turkmenistan, Poland, Hungary, Bangladesh, Sudan, and Indonesia in Malaysia took part in the international handicraft exhibition, dance performances and food fair.

The taste of Turkmenistan’s culture could be felt through the handicraft booth set at the art lane of the town center.  The team of students from Turkmenistan studying in Malaysia represented their culture by introducing their national attires and some traditional homemade delights. The visitors of the booth were given opportunity to taste the food, try the Turkmen costumes on, take some pictures with the exhibitors, as well as to hear knowledge-enriching stories of the culture of Turkmenistan.  

Of the main goals of participation of the Embassy of Turkmenistan for PJ fair 2016 was to deliver national importance of the forthcoming 25th anniversary of the Independence of Turkmenistan and the announcement of 2016 as the "Year of Respect for Heritage, Reformation of Motherland", which proved to be reached by overwhelming numbers of guests and the praise from the event managers as the most visited-booth.
