85 gold medals are in the Turkmen national team’s asset at the Asian Games

In the framework of the 5th Asian Games, there were held competitions in 11 events, in six of which are Sambo, Kickboxing, Freestyle Wrestling, Weightlifting, Billiards, Sport Dance, our compatriots have gained 23 medals, including 6 gold.

Currently the national team of Turkmenistan is an unprecedented leader in the overall medal standings of 5th Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games, having in its asset 229 medals all together, including 85 gold, 65 silver and 79 bronze.

The closest rival in the medal standings is the P.R.C. team with 78 medals, including 34 gold, 24 silver and 20 bronze. In third place – the athletes from Iran, who have 102 medals, but only 26 gold (which are kept count), 18 silver and 58 bronze.

Fortune favored the Turkmen sportsmen in Sambo Competitions, where they won different medals. Zafar Madaminov in the weight category over 100 kilograms, Kerimberdi Dovletov (62 kg), Javlanbek Madaminov (82 kg), among women – Gulbadam Babamuratova (52) are the gold winners. Silver medal is under belt of Zyba Orunova (64 kg). Among the bronze winners – Kasym Populov (74 kg), Elgun Soltanov (82 kg), Hurma Abdyeva (52 kg).

The national team has the same success at the Kickboxing Competitions. Gold medals in this event were gained due to the victories of Muhammet Altybaev, performing in the weight category of 63.5 kg in the “low-kick” and Merdan Mamedov (under 69 kg) – in the discipline of “light kick”, whose opponent – teammate Sanjarbek Sapaev won “silver”.

Pygy Silabov (57 kg) in “full contact”, and Gulzada Jorakulieva (60 kg) in the discipline of “light kick” among women rank second in the Kickboxing. “Bronze” medals are under the belt of Said Fakirov (74 kg) in the discipline of “light kick”, Shohrat Yagmyrov (71 kg) – “low-kick”, Satlyk Allakov (79 kg) – “point-fighting”, in the female “low-kick” – Saiyara Bahramova (52 kg). 
In free-style wrestling, Saparmyrat Muradov (61 kg), Batyr Orazgylyjov (70 kg) brought “silver” into the Turkmen team’s asset, Mekan Orazov (61 kg) – bronze award.
Turkmen weightlifter Hojamuhammet Toichiev won a silver medal in the weight category over 105 kg, having 239 kg in the sum of jerk and snatch, yielding 4 kg in this terms to Rustam Jangbaev from Uzbekistan.
In Billiards in the “Russian pyramid” discipline, the combined style, Ibabekir Bekdurdyev, yielding in the semifinal to Yzabek Ratbekov from Kyrgyzstan by a score of 5:2, became the bronze winner.

Today the dancers go after the prizes of “Ashgabat 2017” Games. Our compatriots Alexander Sisekin and Valeria Nepomnyashaya won a bronze medal in salsa. Couples from Vietnam and Hong Kong got the first and second places, respectively, in the discipline of sport dances. In the Viennese waltz, the Turkmen sportsmen Meilis Atamuradov and Lidiya Gogoleva reached the final, but couldn’t approach the victory podium. The dancers from Japan took premier place here.

Team Chess Competitions were launched in rapid discipline. Our men’s team, scoring 7 points, leads. Matches in this discipline will continue tomorrow, when, after the circular competitions, there will be held the semifinal and final matches.

Bowling Competition took place among men’s and women’s teams. The results of our athletes in this discipline did not allow them to reach the semi-finals, scheduled for September 26.

Swimming Competitions on short water completed by breaststroke, combined and freestyle heats, there were held men’s and women’s combined relays of 4x100 meters.

Futsal Tournament among women was finished. In the play-off for the “gold”, Thailand team outplayed Japan team by a score of 3:1. In the play-off for the “bronze” Iran national team confidently outplayed Chinese team by a score of 5:1.

Today the first Champions of the 5th Asian Games are identified in tennis. In the final of the mixed doubles, Nuttanon Cadchapanan and Nicha Lertipitaksinchai from Thailand achieved success in a stubborn three-set duel meet (5:7, 6:4, 6:2), conquering Jagadeesan Vishnuvardhana and Prarthana Thombare from India.

It is defined the second finalist in the men’s singles – Vijay Natarajan, in the final, he will meet with Sumit Nagal, both are India team members. Finalists in doubles are also determined. Among the men, Kazakh and Indian tennis players will compete for the gold, and in the women’s pairs – athletes from India will play with representatives of Thailand. The finals will take place on September 26 and 27.
