President of Turkmenistan and Malaysian Foreign Minister discuss cooperation in the oil and gas sector

Today, President Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov has received Foreign Minister of Malaysia Dato Sri Anifah Aman.

Appreciative of the hospitable welcome given to him in Turkmenistan, the guest passed along warm greetings to the head of state from Malaysia’s top leadership, who had sincerely wished happiness and prosperity to the nation’s leader and the entire nation.

As highlighted, Malaysia attaches high importance to promoting cooperation with Turkmenistan and regards our country as one of the important and promising partners. The relations between the two countries are built upon complete trust and understanding.

Taking advantage of the opportunity, the guest expressed his genuine admiration for the rapid development of Ashgabat that becomes more and more beautiful with every year, and noted that the dramatic changes in the capital’s appearance and its architecture are the positive effect of the Turkmen leader’s constructive policy, which is aimed at the country’s prosperity.

Grateful for the kind words, the head of state sent his best wishes to the friendly country’s leadership in return, and recognized strengthening of fruitful relations with countries of the Asia-Pacific Region, in particular Malaysia, one of the world’s fast-developing countries, as the priority area of neutral Turkmenistan’s foreign policy.

During the meeting, the President of Turkmenistan and the Malaysian Foreign Minister exchanged their opinions on the key areas of interstate relations, which have been raised to a new level in the last few years largely through the efforts of the two countries. Noting with satisfaction the considerable potential and ample possibilities for boosting the effective partnership in various areas, the head of state and his guest placed special emphasis on cooperation in the oil and gas sector, which is of strategic significance to the economies of both countries.

Speaking for strengthening the constructive political dialogue and closer trade-economic relations, the Turkmen leader and the Malaysian Foreign Minister also highlighted the importance of enhancing humanitarian-cultural contacts that promote stronger friendship between the two nations.

The parties also laid stress on the traditionally constructive character of Turkmen-Malaysian cooperation within authoritative regional and international organizations. The two countries have shared views and approaches to key global issues, first and foremost the ones concerning universal peace and security, and sustainable development.

Bidding goodbye, the President of Turkmenistan and the Malaysian Foreign Minister exchanged warm wishes, having expressed their confidence in steady advancement of mutually profitable long-term cooperation that meets the two friendly countries’ national interests and priorities.
